Covid-19 vaccines will be offered to all children and adolescents aged 12–15 years. BioNTech-Pfizer Comirnaty and Moderna Spikevax vaccines can be used for children and adolescents over 12 years of age. Both are mRNA vaccines.

The minor may decide to vaccinate oneself if the healthcare professional administering the vaccine considers, based on the person’s age and level of development, that the minor is able to make the decision themself. If a young person is unwilling or unable to decide for themselves to be vaccinated, the consent of caregivers is required for the administration of the coronary vaccine. Vaccination is voluntary.

Vaccinations will take place in Kalajoki, Himanka and Merijärvi, primarily in schools in the coming weeks. Vaccinations will start at Merenoja Comprehensive School (Pohjankyläntie 6) on August 12th to 13th 2021.

More detailed guidance will be provided through Wilma a few days before the planned school vaccination days. If the adolescent requests to be vaccinated with their parents, the time can be booked using normal appointment procedures or with the adolescents bank ID in the case of an electronic appointment.

Walk-in vaccinations, without an appointment, are possible at the Kalajoki health centre (Tohtorintie 4) on Thursday August the 12th 2021 from 12–15. Be prepared to queue outside.

If at least 8 weeks have elapsed since the first dose you can obtain a second dose by walk-in on Thursday August the 12th 2021 at the Kalajoki health centre (Tohtorintie 4) or by making an electronic appointment.
