International Restaurant Day in Kalajoki on Sunday 27th of May 2018!
City of Kalajoki and Kalajoki Christian College together are organizing an international pop-up restaurant and international afternoon at Kalajoki Christian College at Kasarmintie 2, Kalajoki on Sunday 27th of May at 11am-3pm.
Restaurant Day is a worldwide food carnival and a movement that allows anyone to set up a restaurant, café or a bar. Pop-up restaurants can be opened and local food carnivals can happen anytime and anywhere: at your home, at the office, on a street corner, in your garden or inner courtyard, at a park, or on the beach – only your imagination is the limit. Restaurant Day is the world’s largest food carnival. During the first five years of quarterly global food carnivals all together over 27 000 pop-up restaurants by over 100 000 restaurateurs have catered for over 3 million customers in 75 countries. International food from 7 countries
At Kalajoki pop-up international restaurant there will be participants from seven countries selling the food and cakes they have personally made themselves. Nationalities representing their food and culture are Finland, Germany, Eritrea, Afganistan, Hungary, Russia and Thailand. You need to pay the food with cash, so please be prepared to have cash with you. You can either enjoy the food at the restaurant or take it home with you.
Music and other program for the children
Children´s choir from the Toivo ry will sing at 12 and 1 pm, Hungarian Adám Gerhes will play quitar at 11.30 am and 2 pm. You can also try frisbee golf, kids can draw with outdoor chalks and there will be antique fire engine to give kids a short tour and also old Zetor tractor and new modern fire engine on display. Balloons for the children!
Kalajoki is a very unique and international city and we have already now over 30 different nationalities living in Kalajoki and with this event we want to encourage people to meet and participate more – our international twis gives us much in many ways.
