Recommendations and restrictions in Kalajoki 26.11.-25.12.2021

The Regional State Administrative Agency of Northern Finland prohibits public events and general meetings of more than 20 people indoors. Operators can hold events for more than 20 people by requiring an over-16-year-old to present an EU Digital COVID Certificate in order to attend a public event.

Event restrictions

The Regional State Administrative Agency of Northern Finland prohibits public events and general meetings of more than 20 people indoors. The regulation is valid in the territory of the municipalities of the province of Northern Ostrobothnia 3.12.2021 – 31.12.2021. Operators can hold events for more than 20 people by requiring an over-16-year-old to present an EU Digital COVID Certificate in order to attend a public event.

Event organizers are advised to pay special attention in providing adequate safety distance for participants.

The restrictions affect the events in the city of Kalajoki as follows:

Audience events

  • Christmas opening in the town hall square on November 26th, 2021
    • This is an outdoor event that is not subject to assembly restrictions.
  • Independence Day celebrations for 4th graders on December 2nd, 2021
    • Will be postponed to a later date.
  • Upper secondary school Graduation and Independence Day celebration in Virta-Sali on December 3rd, 2021
    • The event is organized as an invitational event with less than 50 participants. The event follows corona safety instructions.
  • Entrepreneur Gala held in the Hiekkasärkät Areena on December 4th, 2021
    • Participants in the event are required to have a COVID-19 passport.
  • Independence Day celebration at the Merenoja Comprehensive School on December 6th, 2021
    • Participants in the event are required to have a COVID-19 passport.
  • Virta-Sali events and movies
    • Participants in the events are required to have a COVID-19 passport.
  • Schools, daycare centres and kindergartens will announce their own Christmas arrangements separately through their own information channels.
  • Sport events held at the icehockey hall (including training games for children and young people) are recommended to use a COVID-19 passport.
  • Other organisations will report their practices through their own information channels.

Private events

The City of Kalajoki recommends limiting the number of participants in private events to a maximum of 50. We also recommend that you attend private events only if you are healthy and have been vaccinated.

Mask recommendations

Mask recommendations applies to over 12-year-olds, except the school’s mask recommendation, which applies from 4th grade upwards

  • Wearing a mask is always recommended in public indoor spaces.
  • For those who need to take a coronavirus test and have necessary reasons to move outside their home, a mask is advised to be worn when going to take a coronavirus test and after the test until the result has been received.
  • In public indoor spaces where there are a lot of people in possible close contact for prolonged time periods (e.g. public events and other publicly crowded situations).
  • In public transport, especially during peak hours.

School recommendations

  • all employees at schools and pupils and students on 4th grade and higher are recommended to wear mask indoors.

Teleworking and meetings

It is recommended that workplaces promote arrangements that reduce close contact and other risk factors. It is recommended that the option to attend meetings remotely is provided. Statutory meetings of public authorities, such as meetings of the municipal council, municipal government, and municipal boards, are not subject to meeting restrictions.
