The term food establishment refers to professional transport of food, food storage, cafes, kiosks, bakeries, stores, online stores that sell food, restaurants, institutional catering and regular outdoor sale of food, among other things.

 

Setting up a food establishment

Food business operators must fill in a food establishment notification and submit it to environmental health care 4 weeks before the start of operations. The operator is then sent a certificate stating that the food establishment has been placed under the regular monitoring of the food control authorities. The first inspection of the new food establishment will be carried out within 1–6 months of the start of operations, depending on the nature and scope of the operations. The processing of the notification is subject to a fee in accordance with the rates of the City of Kalajoki’s environmental health care services.
