Youth services

At youth services, we provide means for a good life, support in everyday life and assistance in coping. Preventive work and social support play a key role in our operations. We want to hear what young people have to say and involve them in the decision-making process. These operations are supported by our city’s Youth Council and Children’s Parliament.

Youth services provides open youth centre activity on a regular basis at Youth Centre Alex in Kalajoki and in club room in Himanka. Youth work at schools is one of our youth work methods, and meetings with an instructor are available during school days. We organise events for people of all ages in cooperation with other actors.

In Kalajoki, outreach youth work, Startti workshops and youth workshop operations are managed by the Jelppiverkko service. The target group of Jelppiverkko primarily comprises young people between the ages of 15 and 28 who do not have a vocational qualification, study place or a job. The activities are voluntary and free of charge to young people.
